Prospective Students

New Students

We generally welcome:

We don't typically accept other undergraduate or graduate students. However, if you feel that you have an appropriate background and interest, and fit the description below, please do drop us a line as it never hurts to ask!

If you have not contacted me before listing me as a potential supervisor in an application/ballot, it is very unlikely that I will accept you.

What do I look for in a prospective student?

1) Research interests that are well aligned with our current projects or my interests
2) Strong critical thinking and reading skills
3) Very strong writing skills
4) A willingness to be "thrown into the deep end"— I am a strong believer in experiential education
5) Strong evidence of active interests outside of academia

When you contact me, please introduce yourself and include information about your intended career trajectory, your research interests, why you are interested in working with me, and any other relevant information that you wish to share.

Please also include a writing sample, a copy of your CV and a copy of your transcript (unofficial is fine).

It is important to remember that a healthy supervisor/student partnership is a symbiotic relationship.

You are strongly encouraged to talk to several potential supervisors and pick the one that is the best fit for you!
